In 1986 Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery started a sci-fi genre fan favourite. This first film ran many sequels and a TV series spin-off. The idea was that souls are in an age-long struggle or war. JIHAD! The battle ensues between light and dark and the experience of the quickening when a true warrior can feel beyond the 5 traditional human senses. The souls of those taken in battle are merged into your higher being.

The concept and visuals in the original series were novel and interesting at the time. Many are feeling a new sense of connection between the stories and films that they viewed in childhood, hence there has been a series of remakes and reboots of many classic shows like the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica and many others.There is a reboot in the works for a new Highlander. Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds is slated to reprise the role of Connor MacLeod in the coming Highlander film remake.
One of the interesting features of the original film was a classic rock score performed by Queen. You can see the fantasy and galactic references in the lyrics of the songs.
